MAGSF — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 June 2026

This is the privacy policy for the MAGSF Android app (com.beepstick.sfdetector).

Summary

MAGSF does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. All data the app handles stays on your phone or moves between your phone and the MAGSF hardware over a direct Bluetooth or USB connection. Nothing is uploaded to any server.

What the app does

The MAGSF Android app is a companion display and audio synthesiser for the MAGSF metal-detector hardware. It connects to the hardware over Bluetooth Classic SPP or USB-OTG and:

  1. Receives signal data from the detector and shows it on a chart
  2. Synthesises an audio tone driven by that signal data
  3. Sends configuration commands back to the detector (volume, threshold, etc.)
  4. Stores your preferred detector settings locally on the phone

It does not include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash reporters that transmit data off-device, or any other network-using components.

What's stored on your phone

The following data lives in the app's private storage on the device:

This data is accessible only to the MAGSF app itself. It is removed when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data from Android settings.

What's stored on the detector hardware

Nothing personal. The detector firmware stores its own runtime configuration and (in future versions) license activation state. None of that contains personal data.

What's transmitted over the air

Nothing. The app does not have, and does not request, android.permission.INTERNET. It is incapable of contacting any server.

The Bluetooth and USB communication is strictly between your phone and your detector hardware over a direct link.

Permissions used

PermissionWhy
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN Connect to and discover the MAGSF hardware over Bluetooth Classic SPP
BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN (API ≤ 30) Legacy Bluetooth permissions for older Android versions

Children

The MAGSF app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make any change that affects how the app handles data, we will update this document and the version date at the top. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes on the Play Store.
